About ARMA Detroit

The Detroit Chapter of ARMA International is a thriving organization of close to 130 members, plus seven Honorary Retirees. The members represent a variety of industries: Finance, Education, Health Care, Automobile, Law, Insurance, Personnel, Utilities, Government, Records Centers, Micrographics Services, Records Management Consulting, Nonprofits, and students.

In addition to the benefits listed above, the annual ARMA International Conference is held in the fall. The Conference is held each year in a different location on the North American continent. The Conference provides more than 100 educational sessions in eight different "tracks". Also, an exposition of records, image, and information management products is presented with 125 leading companies participating.

ARMA Detroit Timeline

  • January 31, 1951 - Records Management Association met
  • October 10, 1953 - Six cities met in Chicago, IL to form a national records management organization. The six cities were Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and New York.
  • November 1955 - American Records Management Association (included Detroit) received the constitution
  • January 10, 1956 - Detroit was chartered with the Association of Records Managers & Administrators
